We couldn’t get enough of the legendary Bonga’s 70’s classic, and just a few months after we released Pablo Fierro’s remix, we invite Everything Counts to center stage to render their own interpretation. And of course, the Swiss duo delivered. Swelling on body-binding rhythm and groove that envelop Bonga’s soulful saudade-saturated lyrics, Toshka and Chris Leon bridge Jose Adelino Barcelo de Carvelho’s ardent emotions then with the ongoing now, preserving its timelessness, as their percussion-rich instrumentals, complemented with and augmented by subtle electronic tweaks resonate Bonga’s rasp so precisely, the Angolan’s vocal timbre vibrates shivers to our core. Tenderness aside, Everything Counts keeps the temperatures high with this Afro-Latin infused dancefloor incendiary, wafting cadenced humming, hypnotic beats and orbicular riffs to steer this 7:31 minute joyride to tropical euphoria.
